Orthopaedic Trauma Procedures

Rapid Haemostasis, Reduced Transfusion Rates

When it comes to treating orthopaedic trauma patients, every second counts. The Aquamantys® System uses patented Transcollation® technology – a combination of RF (radiofrequency) energy and saline – to stop bleeding and reduce blood loss during surgery. Studies have shown that Transcollation technology provides rapid haemostasis at the operative site.1-3

Surgical technique is important to achieve optimal results with Transcollation technology.  Studies have shown the Aquamantys System may provide the following clinical benefits:
  • Reduces transfusion rates by minimizing intra- and post-operative blood loss*,4-6
  • May reduce the need for other blood management products during or after the procedure*,7,8
  • Reduces post-operative incidence of hematomas which may lead to a reduction of pain and swelling*,9

Common orthopaedic trauma procedures where the Aquamantys System is used include:

  • Pelvic Fracture
  • Acetabular Fracture
  • Periprosthetic Fracture
  • Distal Femur Fracture
  • Amputation
  • Major debridement
*Performance has not been specifically established in all procedures
